Weekly Recap- August 25-31, 2014

I ran with the girls in the morning before school.  I almost cancelled because  I was so exhausted when I woke up that I felt nauseous.  That quickly went away once I woke myself up by washing my face in cold water.  And I surprisingly wasn't THAT tired at school later.

On Thursday, Meghan (Meghan on the Move) and I participated in the Fit2Run Fun Run.  I ran three miles with them, then did 1 more on my own before meeting them back at World of Beer for a post run drink.

Today I really almost bailed. I set the alarm for PM so I woke up late (luckily it was only a half hour late & it was a short run). I didn't like what I was wearing so I changed last minute. For the first time in my running career I had a blister on my heel from flats I was wearing yesterday & I didn't know how bad it would bug me (I'm used to having them on my toes). And it was my bday weekend and I just wanted to go back to bed. But I was good and got up and did my 3 and I'm glad that I did

But yesterday was my favorite part of the week.  Kory and I got to take Bella to the Disney Parks Blog Disney Side Dog's Day at Magic Kingdom Park!!  It was completely incredible to bring my furbaby there!  You can read my recap here.

Disney Parks Blog #DisneySide Dog's Day at Magic Kingdom Park

Last weekend, I sent in a picture of Bella to enter to win chance at a Disney Parks Blog #DisneySide Dog's Day at Magic Kingdom Park.  And I got chosen!

101 dogs (and their owners and guest) were invited into the Magic Kingdom for a special morning.

We got up super early.  I dressed Bella in her Snow White costume and put on my own Snow White shirt (and Kory was a good sport and wore a Prince shirt).  We parked at the Contemporary and walked over to the main gates around 5:30am.  We registered and then hung around taking pictures and talking to a few people we knew until 6

At 6, we entered the park and met in front of the train station.  We listened to some special announcements

We heard from a producer from Animal Planet that on October 18th, there will be footage of today's event in an Animal Planet Disney Side Edition of "America's Cutest Pet."

Some special Disney dogs were brought out to greet us!

Then we were invited to walk down Main Street on the green carpet rolled out for us.

(all the flashes on made it look light here but it was still dark)

Bella walked some but mostly wanted to be held.  Such a little scaredy cat!  We walked around the hub area some.  They had Human Doggie Bags for breakfast.

And treat bags for the dogs.

And they had rows of doggie bowls filled with water for the pooches.  We walked around a little bit then sat down to relax.

Just, ya know, hanging out at the Magic Kingdom

They had a costume contest for the 3 best costumes.  Third place was dressed with a headless horseman on its, second place was dressed in a chef's costume with Ratatouille on its back, and first place was a Dalmatian dressed as Cruella de Vil!  So cute!

I got to meet fellow DisBride Michelle and her adorable puppy and husband.  I loved finally meeting her!

Then the characters came out for a dance party!

 Bolt!
 Stitch

She literally flinched away from Pluto

And you can see her progression away from Dug!  (Her poor eyes in this last one) Poor doggies!

She wasn't afraid of Cruella.  Maybe because Cruella talked to her and petted her.

They had one more surprise for us-- we got to walk through Magic Kingdom with our furbabies!  (It ended up just being from Adventureland through to Fantasyland by the Carousel to the Castle.  I was hoping we'd go by Mine Train so we could get a picture of Bella in front of it in her Snow White Costume but it was a no go.)  But there were still so many good shots!

(not the best picture of Goofy)

in front of the Haunted Manion

Rapunzel Land (I refuse to call in the bathrooms for my pics :)  )

Bella tried to pull out the Sword in the Stone!

And took a picture in the castle.

On our way out, we had to get one last shot in front of the castle.

We were given some parting gifts

a tennis ball from Best Friends Pet Care and Sunglasses from Animal Planet

And a Disney Parks Blog poster.

This truly was such a special event.  Disney is such a huge part of our lives, including getting married and having pictures in front of the castle in our wedding dress and tux.  And I know that someday we will take our babies there.  But I never imagined I'd get to take my furbaby there.  I know it sounds dorky and all, but it's something I'm so grateful to have had the chance to do and something I won't ever forget!

And this gorgeous picture was taken by the Disney Parks Blog.  I love it!

Yelp Elite Event- Magical Dining Month Kickoff Party!

I was so excited for this Yelp Elite Event that I skipped my softball game for it!!  (luckily the other team forfeited, so I didn't miss much).  But anyways, it was totally worth it!

The event was to kick of Magical Dining Month.  Magical Dining Month is amazing.  There are tons of restaurants that have three course meals for only $33!  I love this promotion because I get to try tons of restaurants that I might not normally try!

I had never heard of the Church Street Ballroom before but it is absolutely GORGEOUS!  I could see so many weddings happening there! (I have never heard of this place before the event, but I honestly think that if I hadn't gotten married at Disney and had done research into venues, I would have chosen this place.  This picture doesn't do it justice but looking at weddings pictures taken here, they're breathtaking!)

Upstairs we were in a large room.

There was music being played by a wonderful musician!

And tons of food!

We started out at Cuba Libre with the Mango Mojito.

I'm not a fan of Mojitos. I don't like the mint flavored.  But I tried this because I was thirsty and it was free.  And it was delicious!  No hint of mint at all.  I might have gone back for seconds later.

You know Meghan and I had to take our traditional picture!

The pork dish was good, but a little too spicy for me.

Chef Jose was so friendly!

For dessert, they had Tres Leches cake.  My favorite desert of the night!  So so tasty!

Up next we went over to Onli to try their water which they were mixing with Tito's vodka.

I asked for the sweetest variety they had and it tasted wonderful with the vodka.

Next we headed to Ruth's Chris Steak House.
(I've been here many times and apparently been pronouncing it wrong!  I've always said just Ruth Chris!)

We had the filet and shrimp.  The filet was pretty rare but that is exactly how I like it!  My only complaint was that the slices were too big and there were no knives so I didn't look very ladylike shoving the whole piece in my mouth at once!  Definitely didn't stop me from going back for seconds at the very end though!

We headed over to Napa.

There we had Seared Yellowtail Snapper, Preserved Lemon Risotto, Broccolini, Charred Bell Pepper Coulis

Pretty tasty!

Right by them was Fiorenzo

They were serving Vesuvio Pasta, Butternut Squash, Baby Spinach, Ricotta Salata, Fresh Pear, and Roasted Pine Nuts.

This was my favorite food of the night!  I loved the pasta with the butternut squash and cheese!  If I hadn't been so full, I would have gone back for seconds!

Up next was Hemingway's, which has special meaning to us since that's where we met Meghan at the Elite event!

They had their delicious crab cakes!

We already have plans to go there for magical dining month and I'll definitely be getting these suckers again!

Over at Siro they had three items.  For the life of me, I cannot remember the first one, even after looking at the menu.  Oops!  I remember it was good though.

The second one was their tomato salad with watermelon and burrata cheese.  I had my hands full and meant to go back so I could try the cheese, although I hate tomatoes, but I forgot.

The third one was Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Raspberries on top.  I also tried a bottle of the water from Onli.

The dessert was delicious but the water by itself wasn't sweet enough so I passed it off to a friend.

Puff 'n Stuff had some delicious desserts out

The chocolate one even had real gold flakes on top!

K is one of my friend's favorite restaurants

I had the Seafood "Minestrone" and the Roast Palmetto Creek Farm Pork.

The pork was pretty good.  For the Minestrone, I didn't like the broth but the seafood in it was delicious.  I found a HUGE oyster in mine!!  Score!

There was a fun twitter contest going on.  I thought mine was pretty creative.

My caption said "Onli Yelp does Magical Dining Month the Elite way."  Get it..it was a play on words from the pictures!

Our own Pam won the contest!!  She won a stay at one of the hotels and dinner for 2!!!  Woohoo!!

It was such a great night!  I was so stuffed with delicious food!  Thanks to Andi and Yelp for spoiling us once again, and to the restaurants for such great food!
